Flags and Fags, a republican diet for success

Or is it Gays-n-guns??
With Congress gearing up to amend the Constitution to partially repeal the First Amendment in order to address the grave threat of flag burning, Bush decided to take a minute (while in Austria last week) to scrawl his name on the flag for some fans. This is not his first flag-autographing stunt. Here he is doing it back in 2003. (click pic to enlarge)

Bush wipes his fanny with the flag every day. Why the double standard?

What would Bush say if someone he disapproved of did the same? Never mind...

That's flag desecration - BUT I support his freedom to do so. But, since flag burning appears to disrespect the flag, doesn't putting ink all over it also desecrate it? Maybe the amendment proposal should add "inking" the flag along with burning!

Maybe they see how this whole issue (or should I say non-issue) is absurd. Nahhh.

My opinion on flag burning is seated in property rights. Whose flag is it? If it's yours, flame on.

I'm very much in the Penn Jillette school of thought on flag burning. For some, the flag is an almost holy symbol of our nation and those people who hold in that regard have every right to be thoroughly insulted and outraged at another American burning it. But I believe it is the ultimate symbol of the freedom that that flag represents that one may do that in this country without fear of being punished by the law.

As for Bush signing flags, I think it's freaking amazing what they can teach chimps to do these days.

It's stupid and it draws attention away from the important things.

If you meant what you said, "I woke up full of piss and vinegar. I think we need to fight the GOP dirty from now on. http://www.haloscan.com/comments/katsiva/115140285095562376#1696590 then you really need to spend some time over at http://blogactive.com commenting about Congress' little indiscretions or at least emailing Michael Rogers with your details. There's never been a better time than now, if you exclude the previous three election cycles, that is...

This is a huge waste of precious time!

I hope it blows up in their face, the same way the gay marriage debate seems to keep doing.

I think we get a bit more in way of support every time they try to say we are a "threat to marriage."

They are causing people to question their validity of their own beliefs and talk amongst themselves about this issue.

Bash a fag and burn a flag at your own peril. That's what I say.

i am a property-rights type too.
who owns the flag can do whatever they want with it.

I guess signing a flag is not desecreation in bushes eyes. I would consider burning it because it touched dirt.
