The ban does not provide an exclusion for victims of rape or incest. To make matters worse, the legislature voted down a measure that would terminate the parental rights of perpetrator. So the victim has no choice but to carry the child and also have the perpetrator be a continuing part of her life. She could not put the child up for adoption without consent.

orchidmaniac,

You have got to be kidding. What kind of country are we living in? I am just sick, we need to boot these assholes out of office!

Hey, this reminds me of an excellent slogan I saw on a sign when I was at the March for Women's Lives back in 2004 (an abortion and reproductive rights march on Washington).
The sign said:
"Bush, we wish your mother had a choice!"
Says it all ;-)

hi Jay, sorry but this comment has nothing to do with this post of yours. I'm Gang from the Philippines. Thanks for leaving the comment on the Leyte landslide tragedy in the Philippines. I live rather far from the place, I live in Metro Manila, but I was the one who organized the rock concert for its benefit. Drop by my blog again so you can see the photos of the night. http://sumandali.blogspot.com (sumandali is a Filipino word meaning "stay for a bit") or check out the website of the volunteer group of musicians http://www.rockedphilippines.org. I'd like to keep in touch with you, you seem to be a very progressive thinker. I could use your opinion every now and then. (how often do you get that?) Cheers, Gang

PS: one of my good friends grew up in Cherry Hill. His name is Greg Piotti.
