A nation at War...

...a American public that's too busy eating pork rinds to give a hoot. (click to enlarge)

No wonder the United States is going to hell in a handbasket.

Clearly we don't need the liberals and the homos to ruin America. The beer-bellied redneck set seems to be doing just fine as it is.

I agree...and yet, sometimes I find I feel like that mom right there. Sunday, I was looking at the newspaper, and after reading about children in the Congo who are being accused of witchcraft because their parents are ignorant, poor, desperate and confused, then reading about global warming, and then about the latest deaths in Iraq, I'll confess I was ready for a little Brangelina type news. (I actually read a dumb article about quick foot makovers)...maybe the difference is that I actually took the time to read the other articles first, but at some point it got to be sensory overload and I had to back off of things that I can't control.

Unfortunately with all the despair in the world now a little Brangelina is necessary just to keep you sanity.

While I read a lot of stories on politics and world events, eventually I just have to put it down and watch Big Brother.

I honestly don't think the world has ever been as scary as it is now, I mentioned in my blog today that with past Presidents we had the clout to pick up the phone and stop a lot of this, unfortunately because of the policies of this President we have lost the world's respect and thus our own clout.

sometimes many of us grow a bit weary of the whole Iraq thing. the fact is, a wide swathe of the country is in denial about it. it is that phenonenon i was attempting to parody here.

I saw that, and I agree with you, 110%. Sorry if my comment took it another direction. But she just reminded me of me last week for a minute. :)

Hey, we used to live in Philly. I did an homage to Philly on my blog back in February. Check it out if you're interested.

So many seem to just be like that. To not want to look. To have an investment in not seeing. The problem is that what they aren't looking at is the tsunami racing towards their beach.

I grew up reading Horsey's editorial cartoons. He's brilliant.

But I agree with kendall - sometimes you just have to put it down and look at something pretty just to keep sane.
